What to Expect at a PermaLinx Appointment: A Step-by-Step Guide

I’m an independent jBloom Designer and earn a commission when you purchase through my links.

Thinking about getting a permanent bracelet but not sure what actually happens? Knowing what to expect at a PermaLinx appointment takes most of the nervousness out of it. Here is a simple walk-through, based on what jBloom shares on its PermaLinx page.

What Is a PermaLinx Appointment?

PermaLinx is jBloom’s permanent jewelry line. Instead of a clasp, your bracelet is joined with what jBloom describes as a small, secure link, so you can wear it without fastening and unfastening it. If you want the full background first, my PermaLinx guide to what it is and what it costs covers the basics.

jBloom says the designer comes to you, which means no hunting for a studio. You can book a one-on-one visit or a boutique with friends.

Step One: Pick Your Chain

This is the fun part. jBloom says every PermaLinx item comes in many chain options, and its PermaLinx bracelets page lists dozens of styles, from dainty chains to coin, clover and paper clip designs. Metal choices listed there include stainless and gold stainless, and the main PermaLinx page also mentions rose gold stainless and black stainless.

Not sure where to start? Think about what you already wear. If your everyday jewelry is gold, a gold stainless chain will look right at home. If you love a mix, you can ask about layering a few styles. My fall bracelet stacking guide has more ideas.

Step Two: Sizing and Fitting

Your designer measures so the bracelet sits the way you like it, snug or a little looser. jBloom lists its bracelets at 9 inches long, and anklets fit ankles up to 11 inches. Talk through the fit before anything is joined, because you will wear it every day.

Step Three: The Link

Once you have chosen your chain and fit, your designer connects the bracelet right on your wrist. jBloom says each bracelet takes between 3 and 6 minutes to put on. That is short enough that many people add a second or third piece while they are there.

How Long Should You Plan For?

jBloom says a personal appointment is set for about 15 minutes each, and a boutique with friends is set for 1 to 2 hours. If several people are getting bracelets, plan extra time and enjoy the visit.

What Does It Cost?

jBloom says each PermaLinx bracelet starts at $45. Its bracelets page lists charm and chain styles at $45 to $55, colorway and enamel styles at $55, and bangles at $69 to $79. Prices can change, so check the pages above for the latest.

Good Questions to Ask Your Designer

  • What chain styles do you have with you? Ask to see them in person if you can.
  • Can I add a charm? jBloom says it does not recommend adding other chains, rings or charms, except PermaLinx-specific charms made for the line.
  • How do I take it off? jBloom says to cut it off with scissors when you are ready.
  • What if something happens to it? jBloom says to contact the designer who applied it.

Booking Yours
