Sweater weather is here, and my wrist is ready for a refresh. If you have been wondering how to stack permanent bracelets without it looking messy, you are in the right place. Here is how I think about building a fall stack with jBloom PermaLinx chains, one simple step at a time.

Why fall is a great time to stack permanent bracelets
Cooler weather means sleeves, cuffs and cozy knits, and a little shine at the wrist peeks out in all the right places. Because a PermaLinx bracelet is custom-fitted and stays on, it becomes part of your everyday look instead of something you have to remember to put on. jBloom says the pieces won’t tarnish or fade and can handle showering, swimming and sweating, which is handy when your stack goes everywhere with you. If you are new to the whole idea, my PermaLinx guide to what it is, what it costs and how to get one covers the basics.
Start with one bracelet you love
Every good stack begins with an anchor. Pick one chain you would wear alone, such as a classic link or a dainty chain. jBloom says each PermaLinx bracelet starts at $45, and the bracelet styles on its PermaLinx bracelets page are listed from $45 to $55, with color, enamel and foil styles at $55. The page lists the chains in Stainless and Gold Stainless, and the PermaLinx page also mentions Rose Gold and Black Stainless, so you can start in the tone you reach for most.
Mix chain styles, not just metals
Once you have your anchor, add contrast. Here is a simple formula I like:
- Something fine: a dainty or delicate chain for a light base layer.
- Something with presence: a bolder link or a pop of color for your focal point.
- Something in between: a medium chain that bridges the two so the stack feels balanced.
jBloom lists dozens of styles, plus two-tone chains at $55, so there is plenty of room to play. Mixing gold and silver tones is a good way to make a stack feel collected over time rather than matched.
Add a charm for a personal touch
If you want your stack to say something about you, a charm is an easy way. jBloom’s PermaLinx charms page lists charms in a $10 to $20 range, including hearts, stars, daisies and initial or birthstone styles. One note from jBloom: it does not recommend adding other pieces, chains or charms to PermaLinx chains, with the exception of the PermaLinx-specific charms that have been tested for this line. So stick with the PermaLinx charm list.
Keep the stack comfortable
- Start with two or three bracelets, then add more later if you love the look.
- Remember that each chain is custom-fitted, so tell your designer how snug or loose you like it.
- Space out your texture. A flat link next to a rounder link reads as intentional.
- Think about your daily life. If you type all day or wear a watch, you may want a lighter stack on that wrist.
Each bracelet takes about 3 to 6 minutes to put on, according to jBloom, so adding to your stack later is quick. And if you ever want one removed, jBloom says you can simply cut the chain off with scissors.
A stack makes a thoughtful gift
Fall is also the start of gift season. Stacks are fun to build with a friend, a sister or your mom, and matching bracelets for a mom, sister or best friend are a sweet idea. Gift certificates are available by request from a designer too, so ask if you want to surprise someone.
