Most of us juggle a bank for checking, another app for investing, and a lender for the occasional loan. Every login is one more thing to remember. That is what I like about SoFi: banking, saving, investing, borrowing and even crypto live in one app, so you can see the whole picture of your money without hopping around.
Here is what SoFi says each part offers, and why it might be a good fit for you.
SoFi Checking and Savings is the heart of the whole thing. According to SoFi, there are no account, service or maintenance fees and no minimum balance requirement. Savings earns 3.30% APY for members with eligible direct deposit activity (variable, as of 10/20/26, and it can change), and SoFi is advertising a limited-time boost for new members that takes it up to 4.40% when you meet its direct deposit or deposit requirements. SoFi also says you can get your paycheck up to two days early with direct deposit, though timing can vary, and you can use more than 55,000 fee-free Allpoint ATMs. SoFi Bank is an FDIC member, with $250,000 of coverage per depositor per ownership category.
There is also a direct deposit bonus for new members, tiered by how much you deposit within 25 days of your first deposit. Read the full terms on SoFi’s page before you switch. I wrote about our own experience in SoFi Bank is the Online Bank.
If investing has felt intimidating, SoFi Invest is a gentle place to start. SoFi lists stock and ETF trading, fractional shares so you can begin with a small amount, automated robo investing, and IRAs, with planner appointments available too. SoFi’s referral page says new members who fund an account with at least $25 can get $25 worth of stock. Remember that investments are not FDIC insured and can lose value.
Curious about digital assets? SoFi Crypto lets you buy inside the same app you already use. The referral page describes a $25 SOFID bonus after you open an account and make a purchase of at least $25 within 30 days. Crypto is not FDIC insured, can lose value, and transactions are final, so only put in what you can afford to lose.
SoFi Personal Loans are for things like consolidating bills or covering a big expense. SoFi says you can check your rate in minutes without affecting your credit score, that most borrowers receive funds the same day, and that autopay and member discounts can lower your rate. Rates depend on your credit and other factors, and not everyone gets the lowest rate. SoFi’s referral page lists a $300 bonus after the loan funds and stays in good standing for 90 days (not available in Vermont).
Student debt is a big weight for many families. SoFi offers refinancing, which replaces your current loans with a new private loan, often with the goal of a lower rate or one simple payment. Choose the link that matches you: student loan refinancing, private student loans, or medical and dental student loan refinancing. One important caution: refinancing federal loans means giving up federal protections like income-driven repayment, so think it through first. Bonus amounts differ between SoFi’s pages and can change, so check the current offer.
The big win is simplicity. One app, one login, and your checking, savings, investments and loans are easy to keep track of. You can start with just a checking and savings account and add more later if and when it makes sense for you. Always read the terms, compare options, and choose what fits your budget.
If you are ready to simplify your money, start with SoFi Checking and Savings and explore from there. Have questions about how we use SoFi? Leave a comment and I will share what I can. And while you are here, check out my holiday jewelry gift ideas.
Disclosure: I earn a referral reward if you sign up through my SoFi links, at no extra cost to you. Rates, offers and terms are from SoFi’s pages as of October 29, 2026 and can change without notice. This is general information, not financial advice.
